We will not be meeting at the church for prayer this month on the 14th due to the conflict with valentines day. Instead we hope that you will join us in spirit by praying and fasting throughout the day. We want to encourage you to replace a regular ritual or activity throughout the day with a time of prayer. This may mean skipping a meal, or fasting from facebook or TV, or replacing watching the news or reading the paper in order to intentionally spend time in prayer for your friends, family and our church.
Prayer on the 14’s
First established in 2008, we began to meet together and pray as we sought God’s counsel for the vision of the church within our community. Now in our sixth year, we have decided to elevate our prayer ministry. Beginning in January the leadership of TUMC has called the church to a day of prayer and fasting on the 14th of each month. Our fast may be a meal, sleep (rising earlier or staying up later), or time (attending our Prayer on the 14’s) just to name a few. Whatever you fast, spend that time in prayer for the church and the community.
This year, TUMC will see a change of pastorship. After a decade of leadership, Pastor Tom Davis-Shappell will retire at the end of June 2014. This is a time for the church to come together to be in a time of prayer and fasting for the appointment of our new pastor.
Whether few or many, we pray for the vision of TUMC, the pastor, its staff and leaders as well as for our community from 7-8pm in the Sanctuary on the 14th of each month. Please join us. This is a time to come together in community, for our community.
