There’s something about Christmas Eve that lingers long after the candles are blown out.
Maybe it’s the memory of faces softly illuminated in the dark, or the quiet moment when one
small flame passed from hand to hand until the whole room glowed with light.
That light doesn’t end with Christmas. The season continues into Epiphany—the story of a star
that led wise travelers to Christ, and still leads hearts toward hope. It reminds us that God’s
light isn’t meant to be admired for a moment, but shared for a lifetime.
Each of us carries a small flame from that holy night. It’s the warmth of faith, the spark of
compassion, the steady glow of love that keeps shining when the world feels cold or dim. We
share it when we pray for one another, when we give to sustain the ministry of the church,
when we offer kindness to a stranger or encouragement to a weary friend.

As the new year begins, the invitation is simple but profound: keep the light moving. Let
generosity and grace flow through you as naturally as the candlelight spread across your
sanctuary. The world is always in need of steady, gentle light—and God has entrusted some of
it to you.
So, hold your candle high as you step into the months ahead. Let its glow remind you of the
One who is the Light of the World, and of the joy that comes when we share that light
together.
The Christmas story may end in our calendars, but the light keeps traveling
from Christ to us, and from us to the world.
